They have demanded rescheduling test dates by putting students on the vaccine after opening the residential corridors of universities or colleges.
Their demands were raised at a press conference held in the Dhaka Reporters Unit auditorium on Monday.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) announced the date of the 41st BCS on January 13. According to him, the test will be held simultaneously at the Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh centers on March 19 from 10 am to 12 noon.
The candidates have written several memoranda for the Human Chain and Public Service Commission (PSC) and the Ministry of Education to demand the postponement of the 41st BCS exam due to health risks and the closure of residences of educational institutions due to the epidemic of coronavirus. However, the Ministry of Education has said that the 41st BCS exam will be held “on time.”
Yashi Shamim Osman, a student at Dhaka University, read a written statement on behalf of the 41st BCS candidates at the press conference.
He said: “Our universities, colleges and halls are closed due to the risk of a timely decision by the government to deal with Corona. In such a situation, the Bangladesh Public Service Commission has decided to take the 41st BCS (Preliminary) exam on March 19. We, the students of different universities and colleges, who live in residences, ask ourselves to postpone this exam for several logical reasons. We demand that the date of this test be rescheduled in coordination with the opening and vaccination activities ”.
Arguing for the test to be postponed, Shamim said students and their families would be “at risk” amid new types of coronaviruses and rising infections.
“Right now, if four lakh 75,000 BCS examinees, including their parents, travel the country, the situation will deteriorate in all parts of the country.”
In giving information about the death of a BCS examinee from coronavirus, this Dhaka University student said: “What is the guarantee that some more lives will not be in danger due to BCS? However, we will soon be able to control the crown through ongoing vaccination activities under the visionary direction of the Prime Minister. Vaccination of college students will be completed prior to the inauguration, so the 41st BCS can be taken in a risk-free environment after just 2 months. “
In the current situation, transportation and accommodation problems in the test center, Shamim said, “To avoid these crises, it is reasonable to take the test after the opening of the educational institution.”
A group of students from Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, Eden Women’s College and other universities and colleges applying for the 41st BCS exam were present at the press conference.
