Dhaka: The significance and importance of Bangabandhu’s speech on March 7 is immense in the history of the liberation of the Bengali nation from the subjugation and freedom struggle of Bangladesh. His speech was the last instruction to the nation to prepare for the war of liberation.

On this day in 1971, the undisputed leader of the Bengalis Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, standing in the rough sea of millions of people at Suhrawardy Udyan (then Racecourse Maidan), in his speech inspired the subjugated nation to launch the war of liberation for centuries. In this 17-minute speech, he ordered seven and a half million Bengalis to be prepared for the war of liberation. Through that speech, the declaration of independence and all the directions to participate in the liberation war became clear.
In his March 7 speech, Bangabandhu ordered to be ready to launch the liberation war, saying: ‘Build forts in every house. You have to deal with the enemy with whatever you have. ‘
In this speech it became clear that Bangladesh’s declaration of independence was free from Pakistani exploitation and oppression. Bangabandhu delivered this speech on March 7, 1971 in the final phase of Bangladesh’s struggle for independence in the continuation of the long movement against Pakistan’s rule-exploitation-torture.
In October 2016, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognized Bangabandhu’s speech on March 7 as a World Heritage Site.
The Bengalis followed the instructions given by Bangabandhu while standing at the racecourse that day. Since that day, everything in East Pakistan has been happening according to Bangabandhu.
Under Bangabandhu’s leadership, people from all walks of life in Bengal began preparing to make Bangladesh an independent life. In a thunderous voice, Bangabandhu said in a thunderous voice: “Build a fighting council under the leadership of the Awami League in every village, in every mahalla and prepare for whatever you have.” Remember that when I have donated blood, I will give more blood, I will liberate the people of this country InshaAllah. After that instruction from Bangabandhu, people from all walks of life, including students and youth, prepared in this way for the war of liberation.
The Bengali nation has long been fighting against the dominance, exploitation and oppression of the Assam Pakistani state imposed in 1947 on the basis of a wrong bi-ethnic group based on religion. The Bengalis, who had avoided the movement step by step, began the struggle for the independence of the Pakistani state. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman led the fight for the freedom of the Bengalis. Under his leadership, the freedom-loving Bengalis reached the final stage on March 7.
Through this March 7 speech, Bangabandhu gave specific instructions to Pakistanis to achieve independence by freeing themselves from oppression and exploitation. Later, on March 25, in Kalora, the barbaric Pakistani aggressors suddenly attacked the Bengali nation. Before being arrested that night, Bangabandhu declared his independence.
From March 26 to December 16, 1971, the Bengali nation achieved a final victory through a bloody war of liberation.
