Bangladesh is trying to buy another 40 million doses of corona vaccine from the Seram Institute of India. Seram is being contacted on behalf of Bangladesh. This was reported by the British news agency Reuters.

Health Secretary Abdul Mannan told Reuters that Bangladesh was also expected to receive 78 million Covax vaccines, of which 10 million doses were expected by June.

According to Reuters, the Seram Institute has not commented on Bangladesh’s attempt to buy a new vaccine.

Beximco Pharmaceuticals is responsible for supplying the 30 million doses of vaccine purchased by the Government of Bangladesh under the first agreement with the Serum Institute. They are the ‘Exclusive Distributors’ of Covishield Ticker from the Seram Institute in Bangladesh.

However, the Bangladeshi government has yet to make a decision on who will carry out the Serum Institute vaccination in the future, Reuters said, citing the health secretary.

Asked by Reuters, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Chief Operating Officer (COO) Rabbur Reza said the question of additional orders would be up to the government.
