Three people, including Sanchita Sarkar, wife of the newly elected Nagarkanda Township Mayor Nimai Sarkar, and her son Govinda Chanda Sarkar, were killed in a bus and minibus collision in Faridpur’s Nagarkanda upazila. Another dead man was the mayor’s friend, Kamal Matubbar. The newly elected municipal mayor of Nagarkanda, Nimai Sarkar, and three other people were injured in the incident.
The accident took place at 9:30 pm on Wednesday in the Kaliamor area of Bhanga-Gopalganj Bishwarod.
The mayor’s wife and friend are known to have died on the spot. Later, the mayor’s son, Govinda Chanda Sarkar, was transferred to the Bhanga Upazila Health Complex in critical condition and died there. The doctor from the Bhanga Upazila Health Complex confirmed the matter. Mohsin Kabir.
According to hospital sources, the condition of the newly elected municipal mayor of the Awami League, Nimai Sarkar, is critical. Preparations are under way to send him to Dhaka by helicopter for better treatment.
Confirming the truth of the incident, said the officer in charge of the Nagarkanda Police Station (OC). “We have recovered the body,” Selim said. The injured were rescued and taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
