Three TV workers have been shot dead in Afghanistan

According to the BBC, the women, aged 18 to 20, were killed in two separate but coordinated attacks. A fourth woman was seriously injured in the attack.

Police say they have arrested the main gunman, who is linked to the Taliban. But the Taliban have denied involvement in the attacks.

The three women who were killed recently graduated from high school and began working in the dubbing department of a private Enix television station, said its director, Jalmai Latifi.

According to an international news agency, the late Mursal Wahidi was attacked by armed men on his way home on foot. The other two, identified only as Shahnaz and Sadia, were also killed in separate attacks on the way home.

“They are all dead. They were shot while walking home from the office,” Latifi said.

Another injured woman has been admitted to the hospital. A hospital spokesman told Reuters his condition was critical.

Nangarhar Province Police Chief Juma Gul Hemat said police were now trying to catch the other attackers after arresting the main suspect.
