Three cops arrested in Cox’s Bazar for money laundering

The Cox Bazar Sadar SI Abdul Majed Police Station, which is investigating the case, said those arrested were sent to court and held on remand for five days. Trial court judge Delwar Hossain Shamim granted a two-day pre-trial detention.

The three defendants arrested Tuesday night were taken into police custody, the official said.

Referring to the locals, Rafiqul said that a group of 5/6 people entered the home of businessman Riaz Ahmed, a resident of Madhyam Kutubdia Para in the town of Cox’s Bazar on Monday night. He then kidnapped his wife Rozina Khatun at gunpoint and took three lakhs of rupees from her.

“When the criminals left, Rozina screamed and the locals caught one of them. Later, the pill people called 999 and the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station arrested him. Later two more policemen were arrested. ”

Regarding the incident, Rozina Khatun said that she collected Rs 3 lakh from relatives and deposited it at her home to set up a gas tent at the PM Khurushkul shelter project in Cox’s Bazar Sadar.

“Three members of the police dressed in white entered our house and took up arms to snatch the money. Later, the locals caught one of them while on the run after looting the money for fear of being hanged in the Yaba case. “
