The BNP divisional assembly is taking place in Rajshahi. However, buses running on all routes from Rajshahi have been suspended since Monday morning due to “fear of attack and sabotage” surrounding the BNP rally. BNP leader Tabitha Awal left Dhaka on Tuesday to join the rally. But when he got to Puthia, he stopped in the middle.
Raju, Tabitha Awal’s private secretary, confirmed the information. He said that when the Tabith Awal convoy reached Puthia Udpazla around 2.30pm, the police detained it. After arguing for half an hour, they let him go.
Raju further said that although they allowed Tabitha to leave, the police did not let the 10 people accompanying her go. Basically, Tabitha was given the condition of not letting those 10 people go. But when she told her not to go, the police let her go at some point.
Meanwhile, due to the BNP divisional rally, ticket sales at bus counters were stopped as of this morning. No car leaves Rajshahi, no one enters Rajshahi from outside. In this situation, the passengers are suffering like the day before. The counters are half open, the staff are seated inside the bus.
When asked about this, Hanif Enterprise bosun Shafiqul Islam said they were not allowed to sell tickets. They will not sell tickets unless the homeowners association gives permission.
