Lawyer Khandaker Irfan, a lawyer for Shirin Akter, Hasanur Rahman Hussain Naxebandi’s fourth wife, told the Bengali Tribune: Plaintiff Shirin Akhter brought money from his father at different times, but was constantly pushing for more dowry money. In June last year, Shirin was admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for a few days due to physical abuse. Later, he filed a general diary at the Jatrabari police station on the abuse of women. At that time, Hasanur Rahman Hussain was acquitted of the torture charge with the help of the police. But even then, he continued to physically torture the plaintiff at different times.
Defender Khandaker Irfan further said: “Shirin Akhter filed a case in the Dhaka-3 Women’s and Children’s Court on January 3 after being tortured by her husband. The court ordered a judicial investigation into the accusations. The court issued an arrest warrant against him on February 11 after the investigation uncovered the truth of the incident.
The lawyer said that two cases brought against Hasanur Rahman Hussain Naxebandi by his two wives are pending in the Chittagong and Comilla courts.
