Noted writer, journalist, columnist, researcher and intellectual Syed Abul Maqsood has passed away. He died at Hospital Square in the capital on Tuesday night. He will be buried in Azimpur Cemetery after Janaza at Dhaka University’s Press Club and Central Jame Mosque on Wednesday.
It is known that the body of Syed Abul Maqsood will be brought to the National Press Club from Hospital Square at 2.30 pm. Janaza will take place there after paying tribute to journalists. You will then be taken to the central Shaheed Minar. After the citizens’ tribute, another janaza will be held at the Central Jame Mosque of Dhaka University after Asr. Later he will be buried in the Azimpur cemetery.
On Tuesday, Syed Abul Maqsood suddenly fell unconscious at his home. Later, doctors pronounced him dead when they took him to Hospital Square in the capital.
Syed Abul Maqsood was born on October 23, 1947 in the village of Elachipur in Shibalaya upazila of the Manikganj district. His father Syed Abul Mahmud and his mother Saleha Begum. His literary career began in the sixties with poems, stories and essays. He regularly wrote columns for various national newspapers. The number of books written by him exceeds forty. He received the Bangla Academy Award in 1995 for his overall contribution to Bengali literature.
