The voting in 55 municipalities of the fourth phase of the country has ended with the boycott of votes by the BNP, independent candidates and the Jatiya Party that were killed in clashes between the two parties during the polls. A man named Abdul Mabud was killed in a manhunt and clash between supporters of two councilor candidates backed by the Awami League at a center in the 6th district surrounding the Patia Township elections in Chittagong. He is said to be the younger brother of current councilor Abdul Mannan. Four others were injured at the time.
Five people were injured in false votes and various acts of violence surrounding the Matiranga Township elections in Khagrachhari. In addition, five people have been arrested.

In Laxmipur’s Ramgati Township, Shahed Ali Patu, a rice sheaf candidate, and Alamgir Hossain, a Langal candidate, boycotted the polls, claiming they were forced to vote openly by boat, beaten by officers, and prevented from entering to the center. They confirmed this information to journalists around 11 a.m. today.
In addition, there are reports of ballot snatching from a center in the Narsingdi municipal elections. The incident occurred after the polls began today at UMC Adarsh High School in the township. A candidate for councilor was injured in the incident.
On January 3, the electoral calendar for the fourth phase was announced in 57 municipalities. Later, Sonaimuri of Noakhali and Trishal Municipality of Mymensingh were added to this pass. On the other hand, the election of the Natore municipality was postponed by order of the High Court. Feni Parashuram Municipality won all the seats unopposed, so there was no need to vote. The commission again postponed the elections in Madaripur’s Kalkini municipality. In total, 55 votes were cast today.
