The first phase of voting in the Parishad Union will take place on April 8, said Chief Elections Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda. He said the election would not take place in March due to the publication of the final voter list.
The CEC said voting would take place on April 6 in some excluded union parishads and municipalities. The rest of the union councils will vote after Eid-ul-Fitr. Previously, there was no time or opportunity to amend the Union Parishad Act.
The CEC said this at a press conference in the Elections Building on Thursday.
The CEC said it would vote in the remaining union councils in May. Then it will rain, there will be problems but you have to vote. I’ll be able to report the whole thing after the commission meeting on February 16.
When asked if there would be any amendment to the law to vote for the Parishad Union party symbol, he said there was no opportunity to amend the law. It is not necessary to correct it. The rules and regulations in our choice are sufficient. Right now there is no opportunity to amend the electoral law, there is no time.
The event was organized on the occasion of the inauguration of the new commission of the Reporters’ Forum for Elections and Democracy (RFED) and the reception of the outgoing commission.
