Police arrested three people, including two young women, accused of blackmailing and deceiving a Western Railway official by taking nude photos and videos with a woman. Police from the city’s Boalia Model Precinct arrested them at various locations Sunday night, but disclosed the incident on Monday.
Those arrested are Sabina alias Rajni, 25, daughter of Abdur Rahim from the suburban area of the city, Abdul Gaffar, 30, son of Abdur Rashid from the Fultala area of Bara Banagram and Riya Akter Pakhi, 20, daughter of Riaz Uddin from the Namobhadra area. from the Chandrima police station. Police and the plaintiffs in the case have claimed that the incident was a planned blackmail and fraud.

According to the case presented at the Boalia Model Police Station, Mahfuzur Rahman, Assistant Chief of the Western Railway Personnel Management Department, met Sabina Akhter Rajni while on a train in Dhaka. According to that source, Rajoni invited Mahfuzur Rahman for tea at his suburban home by phone last Saturday morning. After Saturday night, Mahfuzur Rahman went for tea at Rajini’s house in the suburbs. The arrested Riya Akhter Pakhi and Abdul Gaffar and several other youths were already present at that time.
According to the complaint, Mahfuzur Rahman was detained at that time and, in addition to the three other detainees, was stripped and physically tortured. He later posed naked with a girl and videotaped her. They demanded 10 lakh rupees from Mahfuzur Rahman. They threatened to spread his nude photos with the woman on the Internet if he did not get the money.
A non-judicial seal is also signed to guarantee the money. Along with that, a gold ring worth 35,000 Tk which belonged to Mahfuz and later 6,000 Tk was taken for development.
After the incident, the railway official filed a written complaint with the Boalia Model Police Station. The police registered the case and arrested three people, including two young women, and recovered the property. All three were sent to court Monday afternoon in the legal process.
Model Boalia OC Nibaran Chandra Barman police station further said that the arrested persons had confessed to fraud during preliminary questioning. The police have requested the court to place them in pre-trial detention for questioning in order to discover more such cases.
