MP photoshoot without vaccination

Umme Fatema Nazma Begum alias Shiuli Azad, Member of Parliament for the seat reserved for women and joint coordinator of the Awami League in Sarail Upazila of Brahmanbaria, posed for a photo of a coronavirus vaccine.

The deputy held a photo session of this type at the Sarail Upazila Health Complex vaccination center around 12:15 pm on Sunday. A photo from the photoshoot came from The Daily Star.

In the photo, a nurse from the health complex pretends to be vaccinating Deputy Shiuli Azad. But in fact, he was not vaccinated. Besides the MP and the nurse, at least 10 other people are seen in the film. Among them is the Assistant Commissioner (Lands) of Sarail Upazila Farzana Priyanka.

Deputy Shiuli Azad is known to have registered with Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban to receive the corona virus vaccine. Today he inaugurated the vaccination program at the Upazila Health Complex.

During the MP photo session, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ariful Haque Mridul, Upazila Parishad President Rafiq Uddin Tagore, Upazila Family Planning and Health Officer Dr. Noman Mia, Rokeya Begum, Nari Vice President of Upazila Parishad, Abdul Jabbar, President of the Sarail Sadar Union Parishad and other health workers and local media workers.

When contacted, MP Shiuli Azad told The Daily Star: “There was no poster where I took the vaccination photo. I did it unofficially.”

He also claimed that he did this to intimidate a woman who was afraid to get vaccinated. If such controversy is created to give someone value, then how are we going to work ?, asked this deputy.

According to the Upazila Health Complex, so far 480 people have registered for vaccination in this upazila. Rokeya Begum, the vice president of Upazila Parishad, received the first vaccine this afternoon. 63 people were vaccinated on the first day.
