Dhaka: The government is considering filing a lawsuit against Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera, the foreign minister said. AK Abdul Momen reported.
He spoke to reporters after a ceremony at the Army Stadium on Saturday (February 8).
When asked if the government would take any action against Al Jazeera for publishing a report titled “All the Prime Minister’s Men”, the Foreign Minister said: “People understand that the report published by Al Jazeera is false information.” We will see. When there are information errors, we will highlight them. We will sue (we will sue). We are working for that.
He added that Al Jazeera had lost its credibility by publishing the report.
When asked by the UN to examine the allegations based on the Al Jazeera report, the foreign minister said that a Bengali gentleman regularly asked questions at the UN, where he raised the issue of the Al Jazeera report. In that context, a spokesman for the UN Secretary General said that the allegations should be investigated. We also think that the allegations should be investigated. We have no objection to this.
In response to a question. Momen said the army men went to Rakhine. There they have scared the Rohingya. The Rohingya here are excited to hear that news.
“A letter was sent to our ambassador in Myanmar seeking an explanation for the military seizure of power,” he said.
