Dhaka: The last business day of the week ended Thursday, February 4 with a big rise in the capital market index.
Although the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s main stock exchange, was up that day, the other market, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), was down.

Market analysis showed that the main DSE price index, DSEX, rose 65 points to 5,748 points on Thursday. Among the other two indices on Thursday, the DSE Shariah Index rose 10 points and the DSE-30 Index rose 36 points to 1,261 and 2,163 points respectively.
Shares and mutual funds worth Tk 613.54 crore were traded on the DSE that day. Which is 61 crore less than the previous business day. The previous day’s turnover in the DSE was 694 crore 81 lakh.
Shares of 355 companies and mutual fund units are listed on the DSE on Thursday. Of these, 133 companies experienced an increase in price, 107 experienced a decrease, and the unit price of the shares of 118 companies remained unchanged.
The top ten companies listed on Thursday were Beximco Limited, BATBC, Robi, LankaBangla, Beximco Pharma, Summit Power, Square Pharma, Energypack, Grameenphone and Larfazholsim.
On the other hand, the general index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI rose 174 points to 18,331 points. Of the 233 companies that changed hands in the CSE, the share price of 101 companies increased, 8 companies decreased, and the share price of 64 companies remained unchanged.
On Thursday shares and units worth 35.12 million Tk were traded on the CSE. Which is roughly 6 million rupees less than the day before. Shares and mutual funds worth Tk 43.61 million were traded on the CSE the day before.
