Criminals recently smashed an eight-foot-tall bronze sculpture weighing 294 grams in Central Park, Davis, California. The local city council arranged for it to be located in Central Park four years ago. At the time, the anti-India organization was staunchly opposed to the Organization for Minorities in India (OFMI). However, the local administration was not aware of the dispute. Since then, OFMI has been adamant in demanding the removal of the sculpture.
According to local US media, a Central Park worker first saw the Mahatma Gandhi statue lying on the ground in the early hours of Wednesday (January 26). Starting at the ankle, a part of his mouth has also been broken.
“The Mahatma Gandhi sculpture is the cultural ideal of a part of Davis,” said Paul Droshov, deputy chief of the local police. We are seriously investigating the incident.
