Sujan is known as a follower of the late ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury in the politics of the Nagar Awami League. And Nawfel is the eldest son of former mayor Mohiuddin.
Speaking as the main guest, Nawfel praised Sujan’s role as administrator, saying, “When the new moon appeared in the minds of many people in Chittagong with civic services, he (Sujan) came to the people of this city like a full moon. Today I can say that in six months he has worked for six years and has been present in everyone’s mind regardless of his party affiliation.
“It has taken place in the minds of the masses through politics. Sujan is an example of the way that the village leader Sheikh Hasina wants to serve the people with the representatives of our people. He (Sujan) has shown us in difficult times that it is not impossible to do so if we have dedication, focus and responsibility towards people. It doesn’t require muscle strength or finances, it requires honesty, that’s what our manager has shown. “
Nawfel said: “Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has been elected the new mayor of the city. We want to believe that Rezaul will continue the revolutionary change that Administrator Khorshed Alam Sujan has initiated in the civil service. Whatever the difference of opinion, there is no greater policy than serving the people. In just six months he has given us a lot of creative work.
“We want to see him evaluated at different sizes, differently, and at different heights. The people of Chittagong loved him. As he watched the Corona attack, people from all walks of life in the city prayed for his recovery. There is nothing greater than a politician than the love of the people ”.
Nawfel, deputy from Chittagong-9 constituency, said: “We should see the coordination of service organizations under the leadership of the mayor of the townspeople. The authority of the people’s representatives must be established. Politicians will come and go, service organizations must be used by all people ”.
Before speaking on the occasion, Sujan introduced Vice Minister Nawfel as “our son.”
When the Chittagong City Corporation elections were postponed in March last year due to the coronavirus, the government appointed Khorshed Alam Sujan, vice president of the Nagar Awami League, as administrator. He took over on August 8 of last year. His term ends on February 8.
Meanwhile, League Deputy General Secretary Nagar Awami M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury was elected mayor in municipal elections held on January 26.
With the responsibility of administrator, Sujan took several initiatives, including renovating dilapidated roads in the city, investigating various irregularities in city beautification projects, introducing city service caravans, and cleaning up the canal debris. His initiatives have garnered praise from the people of the city.
The Jyotsna festival on the banks of the Laldighi in the city is also an example of an initiative by administrator Sujan.
Explaining the reason for organizing the festival titled “The smile of the moon has broken the dam, the light has risen, and the fragrance of the nightingale has shed your fragrance,” Sujan said, “The world has known Chittagong since ancient times. The formality of the festival began with the song ‘Tumi Nirmal Kar Mangal Kar Malin Morm Mushaye’ by the cultural group of Kapasgola City Corporation School and College.
