Awami League candidate won with five times more votes on the BNP base

The Bogra district is known as the base of BNP. This time the Awami League victory. Elections were held in five municipalities in the district on Saturday. In these elections, Awami League has won the position of mayor in three, including one rebel. And the BNP has mayors in two municipalities.

Among them, Touhidur Rahman Manik, candidate of the Awami League, has been elected mayor of Shibganj municipality with five times more votes than the BNP candidate.

The unofficial results were announced privately on Saturday night after a day-long peaceful vote. The results show that the ruling Awami League has elected two mayors, the BNP two and the independent candidates (Awami League rebels) one. Returning auxiliary officers have provided this information.

According to sources from the Bogra Electoral Office, Awami League candidate Touhidur Rahman Manik has been re-elected as mayor in Shibganj municipality. He was victorious by getting five times as many votes as the candidate nominated by BNP.

Touhidur Rahman Manik got 12,397 votes. BNP’s Matiar Rahman Matin, who boycotted his closest election, got 2,038 votes.

The Awami League candidate Anisur Rahman has become the mayor of Nandigram Township. He got 7,600 votes. His closest government BNP Sushant Kumar got 5,017 votes.

Awami League rebel and expelled AGM Badshah (Jag Marka) has been elected mayor of Dhunat Township for the third time. He obtained 3,906 votes. His closest candidate to the Awami League, TIM Nurunnabi Tariq, got 3,155 votes.

BNP’s Abdul Mannan was elected mayor of Kahalu Township with 5,245 votes. His closest mayor of the Awami League, Helal Uddin Kabiraj, got 4,299 votes.

In addition, BNP’s Saiful Islam has been elected mayor of Gabtali Municipality for the second time. He obtained 6,959 votes. Mominul Haque Shilu, from his closest Awami League, got 5,115 votes.
