He has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (CCU) of the Apollo Hospital in Kolkata. According to the Indian media, the Maharaja is in stable condition.
Sourav underwent angioplasty for about two hours at Apollo Hospital on Thursday and then two stents were placed. Angioplasty is done to widen the narrowing of fat deposits in the blood vessels. And after angioplasty, stents or rings are placed in that place to maintain width.
The whole process started at three in the afternoon and ended at five in the afternoon. The surgery was supervised by Devi Sethi, a renowned cardiologist from India, and Ashwin Mehta, a doctor at a Mumbai hospital. Also present at the time were Saroj Mandal, Aftab Khan and Saptarshi Basu, three doctors from the medical board established to treat Sourav.
