The unsuccessful students went on a hunger strike and sat outside the front door of Kabi Nazrul Government College in Old Dhaka on Sunday to demand a promotion. Due to this program, the coordinator of seven schools and the director of Kabi Nazrul Government College, IK Selim Ullah Khandaker, and the teachers-officers-employees of different departments of the college were blocked. After promising to accept the lawsuit, they were able to leave the university around 10 pm.
According to students, freshman and sophomore results from seven universities for the academic years 2017-18 and 2018-19 have been released 11 months after the exam. Many will not be promoted next year because their results are poor. Because of this, they risk falling into a big session. So, in the case of students who don’t pass in three subjects, they want a promotion with special consideration.
Speaking with Prothom Alo on Monday afternoon, ASM Maqsood Kamal, chief coordinator of seven universities and vice chancellor (education) of Dhaka University, said: Students who were unsuccessful in three or more subjects were not given this opportunity. The principals of seven colleges and the deans of our universities in charge of seven colleges have made that decision after analysis. So there is no time to think again. Students who do not pass have the opportunity to be readmitted.
Regarding the accusation of late release of the results, Maqsood Kamal said action would be taken shortly after speaking with the university’s exam controller.
