The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a lawsuit against Shakil Uddin Ahmed, 48, a former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Puthia Police Station, for allegedly changing the name and statement of the accused in the murder case of Labor The leader of the Nurul Islam party in Rajshahi.
The case was brought to the ACC’s Rajshahi district office on Sunday. ACC Deputy Director of Rajshahi District Office. Al-Amin has shelved the case.
Police Inspector General Shakil Uddin Ahmed is currently attached to the Office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Sylhet Range Police. His home in the village is in Shibganj of Chapainawabganj.
Deputy Chapainawabganj-1 (Shibganj) said. Samil Uddin Ahmed Shimul is his brother. OC Shakil was suspended and attached to Sylhet Range after the matter was changed.
According to the statement submitted by the ACC, a man named Nurul Islam was the general secretary of the Road and Transport Workers’ Union of the Puthia Police Station. In the election of the workers’ union on April 24, 2019, he again competed for the position of general secretary and obtained the highest number of votes. But the electoral management committee changed the outcome and declared a person named Abdur Rahman Patal as the winner of the secretary-general position.
Three people, including Nurul Islam, filed a case alleging irregularities in the elections. Since then, Abdur Rahman Patal and his associates have threatened to kill Nurul Islam in various ways. Nurul Islam could not be found since June 10, 2019.
The next morning, Nurul Islam’s body was found in a brick field in Puthia. That same day, his daughter Nigar Sultana mentioned the names of eight people and gave a statement to the then CO of the Puthia police station. The communiqué mentions the illegal interference of the OC of Puthia in the election of the workers’ union. For this reason, OC Shakil Uddin Ahmed asked Nigar Sultana to correct the statement without recording it.
Nigar Sultana dropped the OC case and resubmitted the statement to the police station. Then he accepted the statement and on a white paper with Nigar Sultana’s signature asked him to leave.
Subsequently, Nigar Sultana collected copies of the statement and preliminary information of the case from the Puthia police station and found that in the writing column of the names and addresses of the defendants in the preliminary information was written ‘Anonymous’. Again, instead of the eight defendants mentioned by him, there are six names. But he charged eight people with full names and addresses. OC Shakil has made these changes.
Nigar Sultana filed a judicial petition in the High Court opposing the controversial statement. The High Court ordered the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Rajshahi to investigate and submit a report. Chief Judge Mehedi Hasan Talukder has issued a report citing the manipulation of the OC after the judicial investigation.
According to the ACC v. OC case, the change in OC Shakil’s statement is a clear violation of Section 243 of the Bengal Police Regulations and Section 154 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. You have committed an offense punishable under Section 5 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1947, including Section 18/18/218/218 of the Penal Code. So regular cases were brought against him. If someone else is found to be involved in these crimes during the investigation, they will also be subject to the law.
