‘Measures will be taken against those involved in the female genital mutilation of the inmate’

Dhaka: Strict action will be taken against those involved in spending time with a woman who was convicted of the Hallmark scandal at Gazipur’s Kashimpur jail, said Brigadier IG Prison Md. Mominur Rahman Mamun.

IG Prison reported to banglanews on Saturday (January 23) afternoon.

He said an investigation committee was set up in the wake of the incident. They will report in a few days. Action will be taken against those involved in the report.

According to a source from the investigative committee, there is evidence that a Part I prison officer was involved in the incident. The investigation will recommend action against them.

Meanwhile, the deputy superintendent of the prison, Mohammad Saqlain, Sergeant Abdul Bari and the deputy chief, the jailer Khalilur Rahman, have been removed.

CCTV footage of the incident showed a woman meeting with GM Tushar, the brother of Tanvir, the mastermind behind the Hallmark scandal at Part 1 of the Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur on January 8. There was a storm of criticism about it. An investigation committee was formed.
