Hallmark general manager meets woman who violates prison rules

It has been alleged that a woman met a prisoner in violation of jail rules at the Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur. The woman was alleged to have met with Hallmark CEO Tushar Ahmed in the jail officials’ room.

Prison sources, who did not want to be identified, said Tushar Ahmed walked around the officers’ office area in black clothing before entering the jail on January 8. Shortly after his arrival, the prison’s chief superintendent, Ratna Roy, and the deputy district chief, Saqlain, arrived. At that moment a woman wearing a salwar kameez entered from outside. At 12:55 pm, the woman along with two other young men entered the prison officials’ room. The deputy from the Saqlain district was present there. After the woman got in there, she left the deputy district office. About 10 minutes later, prisoner Tushar Ahmed was seen entering the jail.

According to sources in the Gazipur district administration, the Gazipur district administration formed an investigation committee on January 12. A three-member committee was formed consisting of additional district magistrate Abul Kalam and Gazipur executive magistrates Umme Habiba Farzana and Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury.

Furthermore, on 21 January another investigative committee was formed with Additional Inspector General of Prisons Abrar Hossain as head, Under Secretary (Security Division) Abu Saeed Mollah and DIG (Mymensingh Division) Jahangir Kabir as members.

Gazipur District Additional Magistrate Abul Kalam said: “We have seen the video footage from the prison’s closed-circuit television camera.” An investigation is ongoing. Ratna Roy, superintendent of Kashimpur-1 Central Jail, was called more than once, but did not receive any calls.
