Woman killed in Jhenaidah truck accident and roadblock in protest

A woman named Ripti Begum (40) died and another was injured in a truck accident in Jhenaidah. The incident took place on the Jhenaidah-Jessore highway in the Hamdah Ghoshpara area of ​​the city on Friday morning. Later, locals blocked the road for hours demanding the construction of speed bumps at the site.

The deceased was identified as Narikelbaria de Jhenaidah Sadar upazila. The wounded man was identified as Alamgir Hossain. He is the cousin of Ripti Begum.

The officer in charge of the Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station, Mizanur Rahman, confirmed the information. He said that Ripti Begum was returning to town from the city on a motorcycle with her cousin Alamgir Hossain in the morning. On the way, a truck carrying goods from Jessore to Kushtia collided with the motorcycle on the Jhenaidah-Jessore highway in the Ghoshpara area. The woman fell from the motorcycle on the road and the truck crushed her. He died on the spot. The injured Alamgir has been admitted to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital.

Meanwhile, locals blocked the Jhenaidah-Jessore highway in protest of the incident and demanded the construction of speed bumps at the site. The blockade was lifted an hour later by guarantee of the police.
