People’s Leasing summons 280 defaulters to the Superior Court

The High Court has cited 270 defaulters with a loan of more than Tk 5 lakh from People’s Leasing and Financial Services Limited, a financial institution affiliated with PK Haldar.

They have been asked to appear in court on February 23 to explain the matter.

Judge Mohammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar, of the company’s High Court bank, approved the order on Thursday.

Later, Asaduzzaman Khan’s lawyer, Mezbahur Rahman, told the media that the court had asked all 270 offenders to show cause along with the subpoena.

By the way, with the help of a union that included family and friends, PK Haldar withdrew at least 10,200 crore of Tk from various rental companies and fled the country. A large part of this money was smuggled to Canada, India and Singapore.

According to sources from the Bank of Bangladesh, around Rs 2.5 billion taka was withdrawn from the international lease. In addition, PK Haldar and his syndicate embezzled another 6.5 billion Tk in the same way from FAS Finance, Reliance Finance and People’s Leasing.

Out of a total of Tk 10,000 crore, around Tk 2,200 crore from FAS Finance, Tk 2,500 crore from Reliance Finance and around Tk 3,000 crore from People’s Leasing have been embezzled and smuggled on behalf of non-existent institutions. It goes without saying that there is no mortgage on these loans. As a result, the chances of repaying the loan are slim. And its main craftsman is PK Haldar.

He was scheduled to return to his country on October 25. But as soon as he returned to the country, he backed down after receiving the news of an order from the Superior Court to arrest him. A Dhaka court issued an arrest warrant for PK Haldar following a request by the ACC to arrest him and bring him back to the country with the help of Interpol. Following the warrant, Interpol issued a red alert to arrest PK Haldar.
