Case for torturing and spreading video of a village doctor in Hatia

A case has been brought against 11 people in the Hatiyar Chanandi Union of Noakhali for allegedly exposing a village doctor and spreading torture videos on social media. Those arrested have been identified as Zia alias Jihad, 30, son of Khabir Uddin from the village of Mollah in the Chandi union of Hatia upazila, Faruk, 30, son of Khabir Uddin from the village of Adarsh, father of Nabir Uddin alias Honda Nabir, 32, Alamgir Hossain, 40, son of Abu Taher and Abdul Karim. At that time, he said, on January 1, rebel youth from the area beat the village doctor and a housewife, accusing them of immoral acts. Then he tied them to a tree and beat them. At one point, they recorded the incident of torturing the village doctor on his mobile phone and left it on social media. The matter came to the attention of police when the district police superintendent visited the scene on Sunday. Subsequently, the victim became a plaintiff and filed a lawsuit against 11 people at the Hatia police station. The police raided the house at night, arrested the five defendants and sent them to court.

Earlier, a press release issued by the special section of the district police said that the video that went viral on January 18 in Hatia, where a woman was stripped and tortured through social media, was not actually a video of a naked and tortured woman. It is a scene of a man, that is, a village doctor who is dragged out of the house.

A press release further said that a housewife (32) from Adarsh ​​village in Hatia Upazila’s Chanandi Union No. 2 was allegedly raped by five people, including 30 (including 30) local Zia Prakash Jihad at her residence. on January 1 at 9 pm. The victim herself filed a case against her in Court 2 for the Suppression of Abuse of Women and Children on January 5. The wise court ordered Hatia Circle’s Assistant Police Superintendent Golam Farooq to investigate the petition case and file a report.

The Hatia Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police took over the investigation of the case on January 12. He arrived at the scene on January 16 and questioned the female victim, her husband, brother and sister-in-law and discovered that the victim had purchased 15 acres of land from Jahanara Begum, mother of defendant Farooq from Adarsh ​​village in Chandandi Union. of the upazila mentioned about 10-11 years ago. She has been living with her husband and children. Later, they had a dispute with Jahanara Begum’s family over the land and others, including the defendant Farooq, threatened to evict her from the land. This was refereed at different times. On January 1, around 8pm, the victim, on his way home from the Janata Bazar store, crossed the street past the local Mohiuddin home and turned the flashlight on the victim, including Farooq. Then he ran to the front room of the local village doctor’s chicken farm. Note that the village doctor was inside the room at the time. In this situation, some people from the area, including Farooq, came and locked them in the room and started yelling from outside. Meanwhile, when the village doctor tried to leave the room through the window, the locals, including Farooq, opened the lock, beat him, dragged him out of the room, and informed everyone that he was engaged in immoral activities. The agitated crowd slapped her and the woman and tied them to a betel tree in front of the room.

Later, the police from the Morshed Bazar Research Center found out and took the woman and Mohiuddin to the research center for questioning. They were handed over to their respective guardians as there was no evidence of their participation in immoral activities during the interrogation and there were no complaints. They did not tell the police or anyone else at the time that the beating had been videotaped.

The woman presented the petition to a wise court on January 5, alleging that the attempted rape occurred at her home. Jihad (30), Farooq (30), Md. Farooq (32), Enayet (30) and Bhutto Majhi (35) were charged.

In addition to the defendant Farooq (30), the defendants mentioned. Mohiuddin and Jochna were beaten and a lawsuit was filed against them for taking separate statements. Additional steps will be taken subject to investigation.
