Legal notices have been sent to the government seeking instructions to provide religious speeches, prohibiting fiction and anti-state rhetoric in religious speeches, citing references to texts from the Holy Quran and pure hadiths. The notification has been sent to the cabinet secretary, the secretary of the ministry of religion, the secretary of the ministry of education and the director general of the Islamic Foundation.

Supreme Court attorney Mahmudul Hasan sent the notification on Monday (January 18).

According to the notice, many sacred responsibilities have been assigned to scholars or preachers. But it is very sad to see that in many cases our scholars are giving religious speeches, various fictional speeches, gossip and anti-state speeches on Waz mahfil. Furthermore, these misleading statements are being spread to the public through various social networks such as YouTube and Facebook. It is also seen in many cases that our scholars are making aggressive statements against the government, various government institutions and creating discord among the people by making speeches like yours without mentioning the appropriate references to the Hadith of the Qur’an in various religious speeches and Waz mahfils.

The notice further stated: ‘Since Islam is the state religion of the Republic according to 2 (a) of the Constitution of Bangladesh. Therefore, it is the duty and duty of the government to protect the sanctity of Islam and to propagate Islam properly. Therefore, it is necessary to take appropriate measures in various waz mahfils and religious speeches so that the speakers refer to the Holy Quran and the pure books of hadith and avoid statements against the state.

You have been asked to take appropriate action in this regard within 30 days of receipt of the notification. If not, a writ will be filed in Superior Court to request action on the matter, the notice said.
