A-League is questioning the first light vote

A central leader of the Awami League lamented and said in the first light: “Everyone thinks that the party will benefit if there are more elected representatives at the grassroots level.” But the representatives of the people could not be fully trusted to distribute relief in the Corona epidemic. The police and the local administration play a key role. On the contrary, there are allegations of embezzlement of aid against representatives of the people. Most of them are representatives of the people of the Awami League. What is the benefit of the party in electing the representatives of these people to gain notoriety?

In this regard, Kazi Zafar Ullah, a member of the Awami League presidium, told Prothom Alo that the party has been in power for 12 years and that some people tend to control everything, to get involved in conflict and question the party. But the team is looking at things. It is not acceptable to embarrass the team in the interests of the individual.

The electoral system is questionable
Awami League mayoral candidate Abdul Quader Mirza blocked the road on January 3 to demand fair elections in Noakhali’s Basurhat municipality. He is the younger brother of the Secretary General of the Awami League, Obaidul Quader. He strongly criticized the family and the local Awami League. He continued this line of discourse until the election, which was discussed at the national level. He won Saturday’s elections by an overwhelming majority.

After the road blockade, Abdul Quader Mirza said: “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has established the people’s right to rice, but the right to vote has not yet been established.” He was heard hinting at local party MPs, saying that if there was a fair election, Awami League MPs in all but three or four seats in the Noakhali metropolitan area would find no way to escape. Video images of these statements are now circulating on people’s mobile phones.
