In this election, the Awami League has won 48 mayoral positions, the BNP four, the Awami League five rebel candidates, the BNP one rebel, the Jatiya Party one, Jasad one and the independent candidate one. Kishoreganj fruits were suspended in 60 municipalities. However, in four of the 48 winning municipalities, the Awami League candidates were chosen as the only contenders.

In some municipalities, including Godagari and Arani of Rajshahi in EVM, more than 80 percent of the votes have been cast. However, in general, the EVM has fewer votes than the ballot. Participation in EVM was 56.34% and on the ballot it was 85.02%.
According to information received from the Electoral Commission on Sunday, the main rivals of the Awami League candidates for the position of mayor in 11 municipalities were rebels from their own party. The municipalities are Sariakandi in Bogra, Bagmara in Rajshahi, Lalpur and Gurudaspur in Natore, Gangni in Meherpur, Shailkupa in Jhenaidah, Fulbaria in Mymensingh, Mohanganj in Netrokona, Boalmari in Faridpur, Khamalganj in Moulvibazar and Kamalganj in Moulvibazarj.
Meanwhile, as a result of this election, the ruling party candidates in 26 municipalities were the closest rivals to the BNP candidates, but the gap in voting was wide. The Awami League candidate obtained 57,604 votes in the municipality of Savar. BNP’s closest rival candidate got just 5,330 votes. In the Ishwardi municipality of Pabna, against 26,572 votes for the ship’s candidate, the rice sheaf obtained 2,165 votes. In Sirajganj, the Awami League candidate obtained 10,069 votes to 6,347 votes. In Raiganj, the BNP candidate obtained 575 votes to 8,920 votes for the Awami League candidate. Municipalities where BNP candidates have narrowly lost to Awami League candidates include Godagari in Rajshahi, Faridpur in Pabna and Kishoreganj. In Kishoreganj, the Awami League candidate got 20,922 votes and the BNP candidate got 20,436 votes. In Godagari, the Awami League candidate got 5,573 votes and the BNP candidate got 5,136 votes. In Faridpur, Pabna, the Awami League candidate obtained 4,998 votes and the BNP candidate obtained 3,519 votes.
Furthermore, in the four municipalities where the BNP candidates have won, there is a huge voting gap with the Awami League candidates in the Dinajpur municipality. Here the BNP candidate obtained 44,934 votes and the Awami League candidate obtained 24,228 votes. Among the other three municipalities, the BNP candidate obtained 7,008 votes in Bogra’s Adamdighi and the Awami League candidate obtained 7,402 votes. In Madhabpur of Habiganj, the BNP candidate obtained 5,341 votes and the Awami League candidate obtained 4,175 votes. In Nabiganj Township in the same district, the BNP candidate obtained 5,649 votes and the Awami League candidate obtained 5,465 votes.
Regarding the EVM vote, the Citizen (Sujan) Editor of Good Government said that the credibility of this device depends on the credibility of the Electoral Commission. The current Electoral Commission has lost that credibility. And since the EVM that is being used in the country has no trace of paper, there are doubts about the result of the vote.
Previously, the turnout in the first round of the 24 municipal elections held on December 28 was 85.06 percent. The highest participation of 65.31 percent was recorded in the Patuakhali municipality of Kuakata. At least 40.6 percent of voters cast their vote in Chittagong’s Sitakunda Township.
