Feni: A prayer mahfil for the release and recovery of the defendant Ruhul Amin, who was sentenced to death in the Nusrat murder case, has been held in Feni.
Milad and prayers were organized on Wednesday (January 13) under the banner of the Awami Municipal League of Sonagazi, the Juba League and the Chhatra League.
At the end of the discussion meeting and milad, there is a mixed reaction and anger among ordinary people.
However, the president of the Upazila Awami League, Mofizul Haque, claimed that he did not know anything about the event held at the office of the Upazila Awami League under the chairmanship of the general secretary of the Awami Municipal League, Abu Tayyab Babul.
He said that he and the party’s Upazila general secretary were not aware of the program. They’ve already opened the office. It is not appropriate to hold a prayer meeting for someone on death row. Those who have done so have been wronged.
The secretary general’s lawyer, Rafiqul Islam Khokon, said: “We knew nothing about such meetings in this office.”
It is known that at this meeting Sonagazi Upazila Parishad Vice President Sakhawatul Haque Bittu, Matiganj Union Parishad President Md. Rabiuzzaman Babu, Secretary General of the Upazila League Juba Nurul Islam Bhutto, President of the UP Mangalkandi Mosharraf Hossain Badal, Member of the Nasir Uddin District Council Arif Bhuiyan, Secretary General of the Charchandia League Awami Union Abdur Rahim Manik, Secretary General of the Bagadana Union Awami League Alauddin Babul, Amirabad Secretary Aru, UP member Gedu Mia Bhuiyan, Deen Mohammad, president of the Juba League participated from the Matiganj Union, Mohammad Hossain Tipu, and the General Secretary of the Municipal Juba League Belal Hossain, along with the leaders and activists of the Juba League and the Chhatra League.
Rabiuzzaman Babu, president of Matiganj Union Parishad, said in the pre-Milad discussion that our leader Ruhul Amin Bhai is innocent. I call for the release of Ruhul Amin and Muksud Alam and their return among us. Let those who conspire be brought to justice. We pray to God so that we can see his punishment with our own eyes. ‘
The milad and prayers were given by Maulana Faruk Hossain, President of Sonagazi Upazila Imam Samiti and Khatib of Bus Stand Jame Mosque.
After the meeting, party leaders and workers also posted a large photo of Ruhul Amin in the office of the Upazila Awami League. Meanwhile, Sachetanmahal believes that prayers and statements seeking the release of the death row in court are contrary to the law. There has been a mixed reaction among party leaders and the general public on the issue.
The court ordered the execution of the president of the Upazila Awami League, Ruhul Amin, and the general secretary of the Municipal Awami League, Maqsood Alam, in connection with the brutal burning to death of Nusrat Jahan Rafi on October 24, 2019.
