Dhaka: The Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Attorney Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, postponed the order of two cases against former Mayor Saeed Khokon for making defamatory statements.
On Tuesday (January 12), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury set the date for the warrant in the case.
However, judicial sources said this morning that the date of the order has been postponed to January 19.
Kazi Anisur Rahman and another Supreme Court attorney, Sarwar Alam, filed the defamation suit in the same court on Monday morning. The judge, after taking the plaintiff’s statement, set the case aside for two orders.
According to the petition, Saeed Khokon participated in the human chain of merchants who were evicted from the Fulbaria market on January 9 in front of the Kadam source in the High Court area with the intention of discrediting lawyer Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and humiliating him in the country. and society.
Saeed Khokon told Manabbandhan: “Tapas has been campaigning against corruption since he became mayor of DSCC. I’ll tell you that Raghabboyal’s face doesn’t fit the limestone story. Because to build a corruption-free administration, you first have to free yourself from corruption. But it is doing the opposite. He said that after taking over, Tapas had transferred hundreds of millions of rupees from DSCC to his own Madhumati bank.
His statement was made in various headlines through Bangladesh’s national newspapers, electronic media and social media. The defendant Saeed Khokon has committed a crime punishable under article 500 of the Penal Code by making defamatory comments against lawyer Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh.
In the interests of justice, an arrest warrant was issued against the accused.
