Actress Asha dies: motorcyclist in jail

A court ordered motorcyclist Shamim Ahmed to be sent to jail in connection with the death of actress Ayesha Akter Asha in a truck crash at a technical intersection in Mirpur, the capital.

The police presented Shamim at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Court on Wednesday (January 8). At the time, the investigating officer for the case, Darussalam Police Station Deputy Inspector (SI) Sohan Ahmed, requested to keep him in jail until the investigation of the case is completed. On the other hand, Shamim’s lawyer requested bail.

After hearing from both parties, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan rejected his request for bail and ordered that he be sent to jail.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan set February 8 for the presentation of the investigation report after the case reached the court.

Depending on the case, Asha had known the defendant Shamim Ahmed for six or seven years. That is why a spiritual relationship is created between them. He often traveled to Asha’s house. Asha’s family also believed and loved her. Sometimes Shamim used to help him come and go to the office and perform.

The case further alleges that Asha left Banani’s office around 11 pm on January 4 and called her father and said, “I’ll be home in a bit.”

Then he called again around 11:15 pm and said: ‘I have spoken to the engineer about the housework. There will be no problem with work. I’ll go with Shamim Bhai. ‘

At the time, Shamim said on his mobile phone, his daughter had better work as she says. Later, Shamim called around 2:15 pm and said there was no hope. He died after being crushed by an unidentified truck at a technical crossing.

According to the case brief, Shamim was traveling recklessly at high speed when he collided with the truck in front of him. Asha fell off the back of the motorcycle. Asha was killed instantly after being hit in the head by an unidentified truck speeding from behind.

In this incident, Ayesha Akhter Ashar’s father said Tuesday. Abu Kalam filed a case at the Darussalam Police Station. Police arrested Shamim the same day.

It is worth mentioning that Ayesha Akhter Asha was studying in the sixth semester of the law department of the private university of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT).
