The Department of Secondary and Higher Education (Maushi) has ordered to give identification numbers to high school students instead of list numbers.
Mausi Director General Professor. The directive, signed by Syed Golam Farooq, has been sent to high school principals, thana education officials, district education officials, and Mausi regional vice principals across the country.
Mausi says that due to the Kavid-19 epidemic, it was not possible to conduct annual institutional examinations at the secondary level (6th to 10th grade) in the 2021 academic year to protect students. Assignment-based assessment activities have been completed, the board said, adding that there is a mixed reaction among parents about whether it would be appropriate to provide list numbers to students based on this assessment. In addition, the list number system creates competition and rivalry among students, which ultimately becomes an obstacle to achieving a quality education.
He said the use of identification numbers instead of the roll number system would create an enabling environment. Mausi has recommended two methods for providing identification. The random selection method can be given in alphabetical order.
Previously, Education Minister Dipu Moni had said on December 29 that roster numbers would not be given to students in the new high school classes due to the coronavirus epidemic.
