After staying in the morgue for 28 days, the body of the 15-year-old Chakmar was finally handed over to his parents.

Chakma was found dead at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital on December 9, nearly a year after the kidnapping.
RAB Deputy Inspector Arjun Chowdhury, who is investigating the case of the journalists present at the hospital premises, said the investigation found the fact that Chakma’s age was not suitable for marriage under conventional law. So even if you are married, it is legally illegal. So, in general consideration, his body has been given to his parents to carry out his funeral according to their religious rites. It will be tried in court as a kidnapping case.
There were some complications in the delivery of the body, as the hospital authorities demanded 28,000 taka for the rental of the cold room. The Lockingham family was helpless and poor and could not pay the money. Later, RAB-15 Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commander, Major Mehedi Hasan, agreed to pay the cold room rent on behalf of the RAB. The body was later turned over to the hospital authorities.

Abdur Rahman Chowdhury said: “On the night of December 9, some young people took Chakma to the hospital emergency department. The youths informed the doctors on duty that the patient was poisoned. The doctor on duty examined him and said he had died before being taken to the hospital. The matter was reported to the police working at the hospital. The police prepared an investigation report on Locking’s body and sent it to the morgue for an autopsy. The autopsy was completed on December 10.
Meanwhile, a young man named Ataullah claimed his wife and appealed to the police to hand over the body. Upon hearing the news of his daughter’s untimely death, Father Lala Aung rushed to the hospital and requested the girl’s body. The legal complications begin. On December 15, Lala Aung Chakma applied to the Teknaf Judicial Court of First Instance to hand over her son’s body. The court accepted the request after hearing the case and gave RAB the responsibility of completing his funeral after confirming Lucking’s religious identity.
Manthela Rakhine, general secretary of the Cox’s Bazar district branch of the Indigenous Forum, said a group of human rights activists visited Chakma’s home in Locking in Teknaf on December 26. They spoke with relatives, villagers, local public representatives and members of Ataullah’s family. The next day, the group spoke to officials at Cox’s Bazar RAB-15 in the presence of Lucking’s father.
Lacking’s father, Lala Aung Chakma, said: “On January 5 last year, his daughter Lacking was kidnapped by four or five young men, including Ataullah, from the Mathabhanga area of the Baharchhara union and taken to an unknown location. He informed local trade union council member Mohammad Hafeez about the kidnapping on the day of the incident and asked to rescue his daughter. But the UP member did not take any action. Then he started looking for his daughter in different places. He also asked Ataullah’s relatives. However, he did not get the girl back. He went to the Teknaf Police Station and tried to file a kidnapping case. But at that time OC Pradeep Kumar Das, who worked at the Teknaf Police Station, returned it without filing a case. On January 26, she filed a case with the Cox’s Bazar District Abuse and Abuse Suppression Court. The court judge ordered PBI to investigate the case.
Lala Aung Chakma mentioned her case, her daughter is still a child. According to the birth certificate issued by the Parishad Union, her daughter is only 14 years and 10 months old. He also presented proof of age documents to the court. His daughter is a minor and his daughter is not of marrying age according to the laws in force in the country. Ataullah and his associates kidnapped him against his will.
On August 9, the Inspector of the Police Investigation Office, Kashenu Marma, presented the investigation report to the court. In the report, investigating officer Kashenu mentioned: “I went to investigate the case, visited the scene and spoke with witnesses. Eyewitness statements have also been taken. The five witnesses are relatives of Victim Lucking. Except for the five, no one said that Luckingme had been kidnapped. That is why Lucking has been reported to have left voluntarily.
The plaintiff in the case, Lala Aung, did not agree with the investigating officer’s report. The court set January 26 for the next hearing in the case, said the plaintiff’s lawyer, Mohammad Mohi Uddin Khan.
She gave birth to a son only 13 days before the day of her death in Lucking. Ataullah’s mother is said to have a newborn son.
Farah Tanzim Titil, an assistant professor of economics at Kushtia Islamic University, one of the members of the human rights group who visited Chakmar village on December 26, told The Daily Star that she had witnessed eyewitness accounts of the family. of Ataullah. It has become clear. In other words, he did not go voluntarily with anyone to Lucking, he was the victim of a planned kidnapping. Second, according to the customary law of the country, she is a minor and not of marriageable age.
Meanwhile, a human chain and a demonstration were held at 11 a.m. Monday in front of the Cox’s Bazar district municipal office in Laking to protest the kidnapping, child marriage, rape and conversion of Chakma and demand justice for his murderers.
