The militants abducted the workers on Saturday and killed them near the mine, the BBC reported.

The murdered workers are members of the Hazara community of the Shiite community. The group has been repeatedly attacked by extremists for following the Shiite sect of Islam.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan condemned the attack and called it an “inhuman act of terrorism”.

The BBC reports that the attack took place on Saturday night near the small town of Mach, near the Afghan border. Baluchistan is the largest and poorest region in Pakistan.

Armed militants kidnapped the workers from their homes and took them to nearby hills.

Ali Jatoi, a paramilitary officer with the Balochistan Lewis Force, was quoted by Dawn as saying six workers were found dead at the scene and another five died on the way to hospital.

Protesters demanded justice for the killings, leaving the bodies on a main road and blocking traffic. The authorities have promised to arrest those responsible.
