The husband divorced his wife in hospital when she gave birth to a child only two months and ten days after the marriage. The incident took place in the village of Koyradanga in Alamdanga upazila de Chuadanga. On Sunday morning, the parents of both parties decided to divorce while sitting at the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital. This incident has led to discussions and criticism in the area.
Jahangir Alam, Councilor for District No. 1 of Chuadanga Municipality, confirmed the matter. The woman gave birth to a son at her father-in-law’s house on Saturday night. When the newborn fell ill after delivery, he was admitted to the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital on Sunday morning. Then the matter was made known. Members of the two families met on the hospital premises in the morning.
The divorce is subsequently consummated with the consent of both parties.
