The Minister of Liberation War Affairs, AKM Mozammel Haque, said: “At the golden anniversary of independence, 50 heroic freedom fighters will travel across the country with 50 national flags in their hands. After touring 64 districts, they will return to Dhaka on December 16 and present the flag to the representatives of the new generation.
The minister made the remarks after the first meeting of the cabinet committee formed to celebrate the golden anniversary of independence on Sunday (January 3). The meeting was held at the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
On December 14, a cabinet committee was formed with nine ministers and ministers of state summoned by the Minister of Liberation War Affairs.
Following the meeting, the minister said: “We will celebrate the Golden Jubilee from March 26 to December 16. The centenary of Bangabandhu’s birth could not be properly observed due to the coronavirus. That is why the government has extended the year of Mujib. until December 16 next year, for this, I will coordinate many Mujibvarsha programs with the Golden Jubilee.
He added that a subcommittee has been formed headed by Information Minister Hasan Mahmud, one headed by Education Minister Dipu Moni for the logo and another headed by ICT Minister of State Junaid Ahmed Palak for the Golden Jubilee issue. The website will be selected on February 21, the logo in February and the theme music in January.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Tapan Kanti Ghosh, presented the proposed outline of the one-year program to celebrate the Golden Jubilee at the meeting.
In this regard, Mozammel Haque said: ‘The members of the cabinet committee have made many new suggestions. They will be collected and presented at the next meeting. It will be finalized with the consent of the Prime Minister and his instructions before the final program is announced.
He further said, “On March 26, the Bangabandhu Birth Centennial Celebration Committee and the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee will jointly organize the opening performance. The Prime Minister will preside over the inaugural function of the Golden Jubilee and the President will be present as the Main Guest. The foreign heads of state or government will be there.
Three types of books on the liberation war are being considered. There are plans to print one type of book for elementary level students, one type for sixth through tenth graders, and another type for college and university students and make them available to children at no cost. In addition, a short film will be broadcast on the context of the liberation war and the torture and oppression of Pakistanis during the liberation war in the villages and in the hat bazaars.
“These are our plans, we are going to receive some more suggestions, we will compile them and we will make a decision in the committee,” said the minister. We will finally send it to the Prime Minister.
When asked where Subarna Jayanti’s inaugural performance would be held, the minister said: ‘I will do it at Suhrawardy Udyan or Parade Square. If the situation in Corona changes in February, what we hope is to be in Suhrawardy Udyan, if we have to do it on a smaller scale, we will do it in Parade Square. ‘
The Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs said: ‘The national program will continue on March 26. In addition, a special Golden Jubilee program has been planned from 4pm to 8pm. There will be a one-year program from March 26 to December 16. The aim will be to convey to the people, especially the new generation, the awareness and events of the liberation war, the contribution of the freedom fighters and heroines, the contribution of the liberation war organizers to the grassroots to through local administration and local government.
In addition, a letter signed by the Prime Minister will be sent to every heroic freedom fighter living in the golden jubilee of independence. Special scarves, t-shirts, caps, saree and shawls will be given to the heroic freedom fighters. There will be a mobile movie exhibition based on the liberation war. There will be a gathering of heroic freedom fighters at the upazila level and a grand gathering of heroic freedom fighters at the central level.
