Electricity went to Padma Char by submarine cable, lights were on

Sohrab Ali Biswas, general manager of Kushtia Palli Bidyut Samiti, said that it was very difficult to install power lines and transport goods as it was remote coal. The line has been taken through the middle of the Padma River by submarine cable. In the initial stage, electricity reached 221 households in 6 villages. By next March, 6,500 families from the two unions will be electrified.

A function was held in the Bhagjot Char area at noon on the occasion of the electrical connection. MP Sarwar was the main guest. Ramkrishnapur UP President Siraj Mandal chaired the meeting. Special guests were Ejaz Ahmed, President of Upazila Parishad, Sohrab Ali Biswas, General Manager of Palli Bidyut Samiti, Mohiuddin, Executive Engineer of the Board of Directors of Palli Bidyutayan and others.

MP Sarwar said: “In accordance with the electoral promise, we have been able to provide electrical connection to Char in just two years. Roads are being built for the people of the char areas and a bridge is being built at the Bhagjot point of the Padma River. If implemented, the lives of people in char areas will change dramatically.
