By the seasons, December and January are the winter months in the country. So the departure of the old year and the arrival of the new year occur during winter. However, on this occasion the farewell of 2020 and the arrival of 2021 have come through the cold wave that has crossed around a quarter of the country’s districts. This has been reported in the forecast of the Department of Meteorology. The incidence of winter is increasing in the northern part of the country.
A mild wave of cold is slowly sweeping the area. The sun is not seen in the dense fog. In many areas, thick fog in the afternoon-morning and winter tremors have increased with the north wind. Traffic is interrupted on the roads. On the first day of the new year, the lowest temperature in the country of 6.8 degrees Celsius was recorded at the Tentulia of Panchagarh. The meteorological office said the mild cold wave will continue in the Srimangal, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Tentulia, Dimla, Rajarhat and Chuadanga areas. Cold-related illnesses are on the rise in winter. The intensity of winter does not diminish due to icy winds with heavy fog. This has disrupted busy public life. Day laborers and low-income people suffer the most. They are in trouble with their families because they cannot go to work.
Meteorologist said. Arif Hossain said that the temperature in some parts of the north is relatively low during the winter season. There may be mild cold episodes in some places for a couple more days. Now the minimum temperature is increasing in most of the country. In this case, the temperature may drop again after a few days. The incidence of winter is usually higher in January. The cold snap that has been happening for the past week has turned into a mild to moderate cold snap early in the month of Magh. The outbreaks appear to be exacerbating across the country. The forecast says that the cold wave may continue throughout January.
Meanwhile, Kauser Parveen, deputy director of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, said the cold snap is currently sweeping through 12 regions of the country. However, the sun has already appeared in the capital after clearing the morning fog. He said that since there is fog, winter feels more. And more than one intense cold snap can occur in January. Over the next two days, the nighttime temperature can drop a bit more. After that, the temperature is likely to rise again. The weather forecast said that moderate fog could fall somewhere in the river basin. The weather may change slightly during the next three days. An additional part of the subcontinental high pressure zone is in and around West Bengal. The normal light pressure for the season is in the South Bay.
Department meteorologist Abdur Rahman Khan said the chance of temperature change is lower today. Similarly, the magnitude and extent of the cold wave can be almost the same. In the first days of January, the temperature can drop by 1 to 2 degrees. Then the intensity of winter will also increase a bit. Then in five or six days, the temperature can rise again. So the cold snap can be removed from all places except one or two places. The department said in a forecast at 6 p.m. yesterday that the weather could be dry across the country with temporary partly cloudy skies today. Moderate to heavy fog may fall in river basins across the country from last night until morning and mild to moderate types of fog may fall in other parts of the country. Day and night temperatures across the country can remain almost unchanged.
