A fire broke out at the factory of Wisdom Attire Limited, an export-oriented clothing company owned by AKM Selim Osman, Member of Parliament for Narayanganj-5 constituency and Chairman of BKMEA.
The fire broke out in the dyeing sector of the factory in the Dapa Idrakpur area below the Fatulla police station in Sadar upazila around 8:30 pm on Friday. The fire burned a large amount of factory fabric.
Upon receiving news of the fire, two units from the BSCIC Fire Service in Mandalpara and Fatullah managed to control the fire after trying for about an hour.
According to factory sources, the factory closed on Friday because it was a weekly holiday. The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
