BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that mass uprising is the only way to overthrow the government. He said the government should be overthrown in a mass uprising for greater political unity.
He spoke with reporters after visiting the shrine of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, the capital, on Friday to mark the 42nd anniversary of the founding of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
The BNP general secretary said: “We have repeatedly said that this ‘fascist dictatorship’ must be defeated through greater unity of the people, unity of political parties and a mass uprising.”
“We are working towards that goal and we believe we will be successful in 2021.” Today, on the anniversary of the founding of Chhatra Dal, we have taken an oath: we will free the country’s leader, Khaleda Zia, and establish democracy.
Mirza Fakhrul said: “History proves that the just demands of the people can never be repressed through repression.” No one has ever been to Bangladesh. We believe that every year new energy will be stored for us and we will be able to defeat the ‘fascist government’.
Former Daksu Vice President Amanullah Aman, Deputy General Secretary Habib-un Nabi Khan Sohail, Information and Research Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, Central Leader Nazim Uddin Alam, Akramul Hasan, Juba Secretary General Dal Sultan Salahuddin Tuku were present on the occasion. General Secretary Abdul Qadir Bhuiyan Jewel, Chhatra Dal President Fazlur Rahman Khokon, and General Secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamal and other leaders and workers of the organization.
