Habibur Rahman Habib, chairman of the district’s car owners group, said the decision was made after a meeting with management and other stakeholders Thursday afternoon.
Shahjadpur owners and workers in Sirajganj went on strike Thursday morning claiming they were collecting tolls from Pabna buses and beating workers.
After the afternoon meeting, the strike was called off.
Habib said they had postponed the strike until Monday night after receiving assurances from the Pabna and Sirajganj administrations.
He said that a meeting of the Shahjadpur Upazila administration, the Shahjadpur labor leader, Pabna DC and the Pabna owner-workers was held at the Shahjadpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) office in Sirajganj on Thursday afternoon. However, the Shahjadpur bus owners did not attend the meeting. After the meeting, the strike was postponed until Monday night as a guarantee from the administration.
He said that another meeting with the DCs and the owners and workers of Pabna and Sirajganj would be held at the same location on Monday afternoon.
Pabna DC Kabir Mahmud said the meeting was fruitful in the afternoon. The owners have postponed the strike until Monday. Another meeting on Monday afternoon is expected to lead to a smooth solution.
