Farida Yasmin is the first woman president of the National Press Club

Farida Yasmin of the Daily Ittefaq has made history by becoming the first female president of the National Press Club. Ilias Khan of Daily Amar Desh has been elected general secretary of the press club’s management committee for the period 2021-22.

Farida Yasmin obtained 571 votes and her rival Kamal Uddin Sabuj obtained 395 votes. Farida Yasmin was the general secretary of the outgoing committee.

Ilias Khan got 57 votes and his rival Omar Farooq got 393 votes.

Hasan Hafeez Senior Vice President, Vice President Rezwanul Haque Raja, Assistant Secretary Mainul Alam and Md. Ashraf Ali and Shahed Chowdhury have been elected treasurers.

Ayub Bhuiyan, Zahiduzzaman Faruk, Bhanuranjan Chakraborty, Rahman Mustafiz, Rezanur Rahman, Shahnaz Siddiqui Soma, Syed Abdal Ahmed, Kazi Rawnak Hossain, Bakhtiyar Rana and Shahnaz Begum Polly have won the seats.

Previously, voting took place non-stop from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Said the senior journalist. A seven-member electoral management committee headed by Mostafa-Izamil conducted the election. The other members of the committee are Zafar Iqbal and Mostafizur Rahman. SM Shawkat Hossain, Gautam Arindam Barua, Shamima Chowdhury and Md. Moniruzzaman.
