Penalty for filing income tax return in the new year

The deadline for submitting declarations without penalty ends today Thursday. If you want to file your return from Friday, you will have to pay a fine.

Today was the last time you filed a personal income tax return until 6pm on Thursday. However, those who want to send their statements online will be able to do so until 12 at night.

Due to the crowds of taxpayers and applications on November 30, the deadline to file returns was extended by one month to December 31. Previously, several Lakh taxpayers asked the government for time to file their income tax returns. Then the government extended the time for everyone by a month.

Currently, the number of ETIN holders has exceeded 50 lakhs, but as of November 30, 18 lakh 46 thousand 57 returns have been filed. As of November last year, 18 lakh 44,192 statements were filed. In other words, the number of return deposits has increased by 4,395 lakh in one year.

According to NBR sources, the income tax collected until November of this year has been Tk 3,026 crore. Until November last year, Tk 3,241 crore were collected from income tax.
