The unfaithful groom ran away with money, gold ornaments and valuables from the house at night after coming to visit his father-in-law’s house the day after the wedding. The incident took place in the Goalkanda village of the Pachchar union in Shibchar upazila on Wednesday evening.
According to local and family sources, Hridoy established a relationship with Rokeya, the widow of Hazrat Bepari from Pachchar Goalkanda village in Shibchar upazila through a mobile phone. After talking on his mobile phone for several days, Hridoy proposed to Rokeya with Gabtali’s address in the capital saying that his parents were not alive. Later, last Tuesday, he married Rokeya and went to his father-in-law’s house. The scammer disappeared after leaving the house Wednesday night as guests arrived with gold ornaments, money, cell phones and other valuables.
Victim Rokeya Akhter said: Hridaya married me by acting in love with me. The day after the wedding, she managed to escape with the money, gold decorations, mobile phone and other valuables from my home. I want justice for this cheater.
“My husband has been dead for several years,” she said. I married her in hopes of a new home. I did not understand that he would deceive me like that.
Shibchar’s chief of police said. Miraj Hossain said that no one had filed a written complaint on behalf of the victim’s family. We will take action if we receive a written complaint.
