The deceased was identified as Mausumi. She is the adopted daughter of Shahidul Islam from the village of Berkaloa in the Kaya union of the Upazila.
The killer’s husband, Rabiul Alam, is the son of the late Shahjahan from Kalyanpur village in Shilaidaha union.
The victim’s family claimed that he had been killed and hanged. The husband has run away since the incident.
Shahidul Islam from Berkaloa village said the late Mausumi was his adopted daughter. It’s about Mausumi’s mother. From a very young age, she cared for and raised Mausumi. She fell in love with Rabiul Alam two years ago while studying seasonal honors and ran away and married Rabiul.
At that time, while Rabiul was his wife, he married Mausumi as his fourth wife.
He said that Rabiul had three more wives before that. Among them, Jyotsna, daughter of Saker of Kalyanpur, committed suicide after marrying and leaving a child due to torture. After marrying Monira, the daughter of Sajaiya from Dayarampur village, Monira committed suicide while giving birth. And while Mausumi was a four-month-old boy, Rabiul fell in love with another girl, married her, and rented a house in Kumarkhali.
He added that Rabiul had killed him by hanging a suicide note written by his niece.
In this regard, said Deputy Inspector Rana, Rabiul Alam’s older brother, that they are unhappy with their brother’s heinous act. However, the girl’s side is no less responsible for polygamy than her brother.
He said that Mausumi had made a lot of sense two years ago not to get married. But at that moment Mausumi did not hear him.
