The High Court has banned media coverage of the statements of fugitives and convicts, including PK Haldar. In the context of the ACC request on Tuesday, Justice. A division bank of Nazrul Islam Talukder and Judge Ahmed Sohail approved the order.
The court said that, in the name of freedom of expression, we will not allow the statements of such fugitive and convicted defendants to be broadcast on news and television programs. Because it tarnishes the image of the judiciary before the people. That is why all television and print media, including Ekattar TV, were banned from broadcasting the statements of the accused fugitive on social media and YouTube.
At the same time, the court ordered the television authorities to provide the news clips and talk shows of the defendant PK Haldar’s statement on Ekattar TV to the High Court before January 10.
Last Monday, Ekattar TV broadcast the news on PK Haldar at 10 o’clock on the news and at 11:30 on the Ekattar Journal. ACC’s lawyer, Khurshid Alam Khan, filed an application with the High Court alleging that the accused fugitive’s statement was contempt of court. Assistant Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state. The Superior Court made this order after the hearing.
