The Superior Court has extended the deadline for applying for admission to Class VI one more week. At the same time, the effect of the admission policy issued by the Ministry of Education on November 15, 2017 has been suspended by establishing the age limit for admission in the sixth class over 11 years.

The court approved the order in a writ petition filed by Mizanur Rahman, the father of a Munshiganj student who could not be admitted to Class VI due to age limits. Attorney Anik R Haque, Attorney Ainun Nahar Siddique, and Attorney Manzur Elahi Parag represented the petitioners.
As a result of Tuesday’s order, students under the age of 11 will now be able to apply for sixth grade admission, the attorney said.
According to the official notification, the deadline to apply for admission to the sixth class was from December 15 to 26. Mizanur Rahman went online to apply for her son’s admission within this stipulated time. But she was unable to apply because her son was under 11 years old. Because according to the government decision, the age of admission in the first class must be 6 years or more. As such, the age for admission to sixth class must be 11 years or older. But Mizanur Rahman’s son was born on July 30, 2011. As such, the student is 9 1/2 years old. Due to the government’s decision, the online software did not accept the student’s application. As a result, that student’s admission to the sixth class became uncertain. Faced with this situation, Mizanur Rahman filed a judicial appeal challenging the admission policy issued in 2016.
