Journalist Arrested in DC Digital Law Case

Said Kishoreganj, Deputy Commissioner of the Digital Security Act (DC). The police arrested a local journalist named Akib Hridoy (28) in a case brought by Sarwar Murshed Chowdhury yesterday morning.

According to police, the deputy commissioner closed the case around 12:15 pm on Monday. The deputy commissioner, the mobile court and members of the police have been accused of threatening and spreading hatred in the case. Apart from Akib Hridoy, Mostafizur Rahman and Monowar Hossain have also been charged in the case. Among the defendants in the case are Akib Hridoy, former secretary for international affairs of the district BCL committee and Mostafizur Rahman, former secretary for religious affairs.

Kishoreganj Sadar Police Officer-in-Charge (CO) Abu Bakar Siddique said the police arrested Akib Hridoy at his home in the Ukilpara area of ​​the city and sent him to court yesterday. When he was handed over to the court, Senior Executive Magistrate Shahidul Islam ordered that he be sent to jail.

According to local sources, Akib works as a Kishoreganj correspondent for Anand TV and an online media outlet. Everyone here knows him as close to the district administration. He was seen presenting programs organized by the district administration at different times. Five days ago, on the occasion of the transfer of DC, Akib came to see him off with flowers.
