A 10-year-old girl was raped in Kaliganj of Gazipur. The tragic incident took place in the Bahadursadi Union of upazila on Tuesday afternoon. Easybike rider Sujan Sheikh, 30, has been on the run since the incident.
The raped girl is a third-class student at a local elementary school. His father is a laborer. The boy’s father said he was not at home. But when he got home, he couldn’t find the girl and went looking for her. Then the boy screamed and went to the abandoned room and saw them both naked. At that moment, when he grabbed the accused rapist, Sujan fled.
The boy’s father said: ‘At noon the boy goes to the field next to the house to dry his mother’s wet clothes. At that moment, Sujan found him alone, grabbed him by the face and led him to an abandoned house in the woods next to the field. There she was shown a nude video on her mobile phone threatening her. He later forcibly raped her.
Kaliganj Police Officer in Charge (OC) AKM Mizanul Haque said the boy was sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical University Hospital for a medical examination. Preparations are under way to present a case in this regard.
